Over the years Carrick RFC has had much trouble in securing decent playing grounds. Such has been the pitch conditions after a long winter we’ve had to move nearly ever year, locals could be forgiven for thinking the circus was in town given the convoy of trucks moving portacabins and equipment!
Thankfully, in 2011 a lease was secured on our current grounds on the Castlecara Road which the club has committed to developing. Work on the 1st phase has been underway since early April 2012 which involves creating a sizable dry training area, its hoped that development can commence on the main playing pitch once this is complete.
You can monitor our progress below.
April 2012 – Ground works start on the training pitch
July 2012 - 5 metre drains go in
August 2012 - Volunteers pick stones in preparation for seeding
August 27th 2012 – A few weeks after seeding and its starting to look a bit more like it
