Here are the first pics of the pitch in 2014, and isn’t it looking great. To walk the pitch you wouldn’t think we had torrential rain over the last few weeks. Wish we could say same for the training pitch which has taken a battering; still nothing a dry spell won’t take care of! Plans for the new pitch are to leave well alone for the rest of the season but we’re not too far away from an official opening #exciting times
The first shoot of grass have made an appearance at Castlecara. What a difference a bit of good weather has made, it was only Sunday it was still completely in sand! At this rate we’ll have a cut of silage by the end of the week ;o)
After been laser levelled and some more drainage the first layer of sand went on and it looks great!
With the topsoil back on the pitch gets power harrowed before been laser levelled.
The toilsoil is finally going back on, if the weather co-operates the job should be done in just a few days.
Due to the fantastic (unseasonable!!) weather progress on the pitch has been faster than anticipated. Installation of the main drainage pipes has been completed and work to relay the topsoil is starting. Once re-applied cross drain will be installed.
Heres a couple of photos taken by club treasurer Peter Layden of the first drainage pipes going in.
