The summer tag is open to everyone over the age of 13, suitable for all shapes, sizes and sporting abilities, where guys and girls play together in a fun & friendly environment. No rugby experience as the game is all about running and passing where agility, speed and hand-eye co-ordination are the key skills.

Carrick Rugby Club Annual Awards Ceremony & Dinner Dance

Our Annual Club Dinner Dance will take place in The Bush Hotel on Friday 17th June 2016.  This club social night is for senior players, parents of junior players, coaches, volunteers, supporters, sponsors and friends and relatives of all of the above.  The night will be what you make it and a good excuse to mingle and meet other members of Carrick RFC.

Connacht Summer Camp

Following on from the success of the 2015 Connacht Rugby Summer Carrick RFC will host this year’s summer camp from July 11th to 15th inclusive. Your child will have the opportunity to learn new rugby skills, enhance their talents and meet new friends in a safe and fun environment. The camps are open to all levels of rugby, and no experience is required. All coaches are qualified and each camp will be attended by a professional player from Connacht rugby. Tag Finals 2015 – Fixtures and after party BBQ

After 1040 minutes of play, 568 points scored, 4 yellow cards, 0 red cards (thankfully), 1 trip to casualty, 30 liters of ceiling paint and 1 box of Daz, the tag league has finally reached its conclusion! There were no upsets in the final bunch of games as we head into next weeks finals. Please take note of the earlier KO times ensuring you arrive with time to spare. After the finals have finished its back to Murtaghs for an after party BBQ and presentations.

Tag Fancy Dress Party 2015

Our annual Tag fancy dress party takes place this Friday 17th July at Castlecara Rd were teams will aim to outdo each other in the ‘fashion’ department by getting dressed up in the most hideous costumes to the embarrassment of their mothers and parish. To compound teams embarrassment they will then be escorted to Murtagh’s Bar for a hooley where all their inhibitions will be washed away!

The boring stuff!

  • Teams will be awarded 1 bonus point for participation
  • Pub social is strictly over 18 years

Third Tag Registration evening added for 4th June

A third and final registration evening has been added for next Thur 4th Jun from 7:30pm at Castlecara Rd. This will also serve as a great opportunity for newbie’s to get involved in one of our demo games which will help people get a sense of what tag is about while easing folks into the rules. Remember, everybody welcome and we look forward to seeing you on the night.

  • €360 per team of 12 or €30 for individual entry. This covers play for approx 11 week and the end of summer BBQ
  • Payment can be made Online by clicking here or at either our registration evening
  • Full payment must be made before the tournament starts on June 11th. No Pay No Play. Tag Rugby costs less than €3 per week which is a pittance for the exercise, social scene and enjoyment that Tag offers

Due to sewerage works taking place on the Keenaghan Rd the rugby club grounds will only be accessible from the N4 opposite Jamestown. Please refer to the map for directions. We hope to have a steward available at the entrance to the back road to assist anyone.

Registration is from 7:30pm to 9pm

TAG 2014 Finals Winners

Tag 2014 concluded on Friday last at Castlecara Rd with our finals and after party BBQ. It was an excellent end to what has been our most successful tournament to date. The club would like to thank everyone that has committed their time over the last 3 months – Aoife Kelly for all her work throughout the tournament – Nav, Liam, Colin, Peter and Kevin for the unenviable job of reffing and anyone that has washed a bib or lined a pitch, its all much appreciated. Special mention to club sponsor Murtagh’s Bar for hosting the awards and BBQ.

A first every appearance at Carrick Tag Rugby and triumphed against the other newbies, Guten Tag. Both teams have shown great endeavor and are defiantly ones to watch for greater honors next year.

A team who had greater ambitions at the start of the league struggled with numbers due to injury but managed a deserved win over Tagatelli to claim some silverware.

Game of Tries came through an epic final against last year’s winners, and tournament stalwarts Shy Tall Knights. The game went right to the wire but Games of Tries showed just enough resolve to see off the challenge and claim their first tournament.

TAG Finals Fixtures 2014

The league table has been updated for the final time in 2014 and it took all 9 weeks of play to determine who will play in this years finals.

It was disappointment for the years surprise package, ‘Guten Tag’, who beat ‘Game of Tries’ but coughed up a losing bonus point and fall short of a top 4 finish. Still a place in the Bowl Final awaits against ‘The Neddies’ who pushed Al Tryeda but ultimately couldn’t overcome the team who topped the table for 6 of the 9 weeks. A losing bonus point sees them finish an impressive 6th place in their first season playing Tag.

In the final game of the night ‘#Tagger’, who the previous week had already consolidated 7th place, took on determined ‘The Attack of the Retreating Invisible Cows’ who knew a 30pt plus win would see them finish top and secure a potential easier semi final place. A gutsy performance against a weakened #Taggers saw them run out 36-3 winners and will now meet ‘Game of Tries’. Whether that’s an easier semi final is very debatable! For #Taggers part they make the Plate Final and play Tagatelli who received a bye.

So, to the Finals next Friday. It’s an early start so please take note of your KO times. When all has finished its back to Murtagh’s for the FREE BBQ and awards.
